Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) wish to advise of the following notification from the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment.
The department will be updating the list of countries that are regulated for khapra beetle. This list is referred to as the Khapra beetle target risk country list.
From 16 December 2020, the khapra beetle target risk country list will be updated with the current list of 83 khapra beelte target risk countries will be REDUCED to 40
The 40 remaning khapra beetle target risk countries being:
Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Bangladesh, Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Cyprus, Egypt, Ghana, Greece, India, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Myanmar, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Somalia, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, Timor-Leste, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Yemen.
Please be aware that the change from 83 to 40 includes the ADDITION of 3 NEW khapra beetle target risk countries being:
Albania, Greece, and Nepal
Leaving 46 countries that WILL BE REMOVED as of 16 December 2020 being:
Angola, Bahrain, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo (Democratic Republic of), Congo, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Korea, (Republic of), Korea, (the Democratic People’s Republic of), Kyrgyzstan, Laos (People’s Democratic Republic), Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Tanzania (United Republic of), Togo, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Venezuela (Bolivarian Republic of), Viet Nam, Zambia, Zimbabwe
